Here are some quick and easy to prepare lesson plans ...
Clicking on the underlined links below, will open an Adobe PDF file containing a complete lesson with clear directions. You will need the free Adobe Reader program which you can download and install for free by clicking here and follow the instructions for the free Reader program.
Please begin by downloading Judy's Sunday-by-Sunday Lesson Outline. This will give you the basic plan that Judy follows each Sunday. Following this will help the kids by using a familiar routine.
The lesson plans below were developed for small classes with a wide age range of kids.
You will need to adapt them to suit Judy's Outline, but they mostly fit in her Steps C and D: Hearing the Stories; and Reflection Time.
We've chosen them because they are based on a Bible story, have clear directions, and a simple activity. Each lesson plan will guide you through:
- Aim, Objectives, and Supplies You'll Need
- Bible Story
- Understanding Your Kids (Background reading for you the leader)
- Attention Grabber (Suggestions for getting started)
- Bible Study (An interactive engagement with the Bible Story)
- Life Application (Connecting the story with our living)
- Commitment (Imagining how to live the story to a deeper level)
- Closing (See Judy's Outline above to adapt as needed.)
These plans will take an hour ahead of time to read through and prepare, plus arriving 30 to 60 minutes ahead of time to set up the classroom.
Please note. These plans are made available here as part of Capilano United's on-line library. The book they are from, "Sunday School Specials 2" is available from David. They are not to be used by anyone else for any other purpose.
Please don't be intimidated if you do not know the Bible stories or feel that it is YOU who first needs the lesson being being taught. That is the blessing of leading - you get to be a learner too.
